Baron Silkin

Baron Silkin , of Dulwich in the County of London , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

The title was bestowed on Labor Party MP Lewis Silkin on July 4, 1950 , on the occasion of his resignation from the post of Minister for Urban Planning.

Both his son, the 2nd Baron, on May 18, 1972, and his nephew, the 3rd Baron, on April 4, 2002, have renounced the title for life under the Peerage Act 1963 . The title has been suspended since then.
