Baron Ystwyth

Baron Ystwyth , of Tan-y-Bwlch in the County of Cardigan , was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom . The title is named after the Welsh river Ystwyth .

Award

The title was awarded on January 18, 1921 to the liberal, Welsh politician Matthew Vaughan-Davies, 1st Baron Ystwyth . He had been a Member of the House of Commons for Cardiganshire since 1895 and moved to the House of Lords through the award . Since the baron's marriage remained childless, the title expired on his death on August 21, 1935.
