Colonel Barre Adan Shire Hiiraale (or Barre Adan Shire or Barre Hiiraale ) (* 19 ??) is the leader of the warring Juba Valley Alliance in the Somali civil war and was Defense Minister of the Transitional Government of Somalia until May 2007 until he was led by Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Ghedi was released from this position. Before that, he was Minister for Reconstruction and Resettlement. In early 2007 he led the interim government's struggle against the Union of Islamic Courts in southern Somalia. He belongs to the Marehan- Darod clan and comes from the Gedo region .
