Darod
The Darod ( Somali : Darod , partly Banu Dawud called) are a clan of Somaliland . They make up about 20 to 25% of Somalia's population . Depending on the source, the Darod or the Hawiye are given as numerically the largest Somali clan.
They live mainly in northeast Somalia in the Horn of Africa region ( Puntland ), in the Ethiopian Somali region ( Ogaden ) and in Jubaland and the adjacent northeast Kenya . Darod subclans include a.

The progenitor of the Darod is said to have been the Muslim patriarch Sheikh Daarood Jabarti, who married the local patriarch's daughter Doombira Dir after the year 1000.
