Bass tone

Bass tone is called in music theory -Teaching acoustically lowest tone of a sound. While in harmony and music theory the root note is shown as the prime of the reference note, the bass note is the lowest note actually played.

Common bass notes are of course the prime but also the third, fifth and seventh. However, every note is possible as a bass note. Frequently found are bass notes alternating in the prime and third.

The bassline, consisting of the sequence of bass notes, has a decisive influence on the music itself as well as the harmony and is taught in the teaching of counterpoint .
