Bastian Eclercy
Bastian Eclercy (born October 31, 1978 in Donaueschingen ) is a German art historian.
Life
Eclercy was born in 1978 to an electrical engineer and a nurse. He studied art history, Latin philology and classical archeology in Munich and Münster. In 2007 he received his doctorate in art history with a dissertation on gold grounds in early Italian painting. Eclercy volunteered with Jochen Sander at the Städel from 2007 and then worked there as a research assistant. In 2010 he moved to the Landesmuseum Hannover as curator for the Old Masters . Since January 1, 2014 he has been curator for Italian, French and Spanish painting up to 1800 at the Frankfurt Städel . In 2019 he is curator of the special exhibition Titian and the Renaissance in Venice .
