Bald head

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A belly bald , as Abdominalglatze called, is a sign of liver cirrhosis in men.

This symptom results from the impaired function of the liver due to cirrhosis, which plays an important role in hormone metabolism. The male sex hormones have to be converted ( glucoronided and sulfated ) in the liver to make them hydrophilic for excretion . However, since the androgens are broken down with a delay in the clinical picture , they are instead primarily converted to estrogens in the periphery , which leads to a feminization of male patients with gynecomastia and loss of abdominal hair, chest and armpit hair and, in some cases, upper pubic hair (adaptation to female Hair distribution).
