Construction sample

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A construction rehearsal is a date agreed by the theater management for a specific production. As a rule, the construction rehearsal takes place at a time when the set designer and director have already agreed on a stage design.

The proportions and special features such as: B. used recesses, entry and exit options, etc. marked on the stage. This should enable the director and set designer to check the usability of the stage design before the design is built and thus implemented in the theater workshops. In particular, the line of sight properties of the design can be checked easily in this way.

From a contractual point of view, the construction sample date is of particular importance for the set designer: In most theaters it is customary to pay the set designer a third of the fee when the contract is signed, at the construction sample and at the premiere of a production.
