A site fence is the temporary demarcation, barrier or protection of any location. In the event that it is used to secure a construction site , it is part of the construction site facility .

The designation “construction fence” or “construction site fence” is derived from the original purpose of protecting construction sites. Today, mostly standardized approx. 3.50 m long and 2.00 m high galvanized wire mesh elements with plinth feet, site fence feet made of concrete or recycled plastic are used. However, other lengths and heights are also available. This modular system and the flexibility have led to the widespread use of almost all temporary shut-off and security measures.

In addition, as before, construction fences are also created individually according to special requirements for privacy, dust and accident protection or for design reasons, mostly from wood or wood-based panels.

The erection of fences requires a corresponding official approval. The requirements for the erection and construction of the site fence are also regulated by the accident prevention regulations applicable to the intended use .
