from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bayreuth Fire Brigade Museum is located in the main station building of the Bayreuth Fire Brigade.

The museum is located in the new fire station of the city of Bayreuth. The museum was opened in 1991 for the 130th anniversary of the Bayreuth volunteer fire department. Due to the constant expansion of the exhibits, a new location is being sought for the museum. The Bayreuth Fire Brigade Museum eV sponsoring association was founded on August 6, 2002 with 53 members. The main task of the association is the preservation, restoration and presentation of historical fire fighting vehicles and fire fighting technology.

The fire brigade museum (see also list of fire brigade museums ) exhibits large and small vehicles on the history of fire brigades. The exhibition also includes smaller exhibits, including historical and international badges, helmets, and uniforms. The museum houses various historical fire engines from the Magirus-Deutz brand . For example, a fire truck type Mercur 125A (TLF 16) from 1960, a turntable ladder type Mercur 150 (DL23-12) from 1963 and a turntable ladder type MD 80 D 6F (DL 16-4) from 1971. Currently (July 2012) there are two more large vehicles under restoration: another tank tender from Magirus-Deutz and an Opel Blitz turntable ladder from 1939. A portable hand-operated sprayer from the 18th century and a cart sprayer from 1868 are among the museum's oldest exhibits. Other historical fire engines , hose trolleys , portable pumps and ladder vehicles are part of the museum's inventory.
