Bediako Asare

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bediako Asare is a Ghanaian writer and journalist who initially worked for various local newspapers. In 1963 he moved to Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania and supported the establishment of the newspaper "The Nationalist". He became known for his novel Rebel , which has been re-edited and translated several times since its first English edition in 1967 and deals with the conflict between traditional life and modernity in African countries south of the Sahara .

In European publications, the author was often mistakenly equated with Kwabena Asare Bediako, a pseudonym of his compatriot Asare Konadu (born 1932), who also worked as a journalist and novelist, which is why their publications are often listed together in bibliographies and library catalogs.
