The funeral hall

The Jewish burial hall in Gliwice (Gleiwitz) is located at the New Jewish Cemetery in Szobiszowice (German: Petersdorf) and, together with the directly adjacent municipal linden cemetery, forms a closed burial area.

The neo-Gothic brick building was built in 1903 according to plans by the Viennese architect Max Fleischer .

In 2008 the funeral hall, which until then belonged to the Jewish community, was acquired by the city of Gliwice. She wants to set up a museum there about the history of the Jewish population in Silesia after the building was restored.

On January 31, 2016 the opening took place as a branch of the museum in Gliwice .
