The house at Beisselstrasse 5

The house Beisselstraße 5 (formerly called "Das Kopp-Haus") is a historical building, which is located in the city center of the district town Bergheim in the Rhein-Erft district .

Building history and architecture

The house on the Kleine Erft was built by the rent master Heinrich Kopp in 1904. He used it as a residence for many years . In 1928 the engineer Wilhelm Josef Wellpott lived in this house and lived here until 1969. After that, it was acquired by the long-established Meyer family, who had the building completely rebuilt and renovated.

Reddish colored bricks were used for the construction . The reddish basic color is complemented by the white walls of the windows, by white corner cuboids and by white round stones. The two colors complement each other in the sense of a harmonious design of the facade of the house and give it an overall relaxed and cheerful character. The Beisselstrasse was only opened in 1902/03. It was built on the site of the former "Weidenbachschen Damm". The land belonged to the Cologne merchant Karl Westhoff. Shortly after the development, the building of the Kreisspar- und Kreditskasse (predecessor of the Kreissparkasse) as well as the houses of the families Ludwig Müller (sewer inspector) and Lambert Knüchel (gardener owner) were built next to house number 5.

Todays use

Today the house is used as a residence and is still owned by the Meyer family.
