Benefits Supervisor Sleeping is a painting by Lucian Freud from 1995. It depicts a naked, obese woman sleeping on a sofa.
The landscape image shows a heavy, dark-haired woman sleeping naked on a flowered sofa. She lies on her right side with her knees drawn up, supports her expansive right breast with her right hand, the left one rests on the arm of the sofa.
The model was Sue Tilley , called Big Tilly, who weighed around 125 kg and was an employee in a London employment office, who posed for Freud on the couch for several weeks. The Financial Times put the picture on the cover.
The picture was auctioned at Christie's in New York on May 13, 2008 by the Russian oligarch Roman Abramowitsch for $ 33,641,000.
