Beni Ostler (* 1944 ; † before 2010) was a German folk musician and ensemble leader. He was the son of the well-known athlete Andreas Ostler .

Life

Beni Ostler started playing the accordion at the age of five. After a short lesson he learned the instrument by ear self-taught. Later he also played the button harmonica, guitar, double guitar and bass.

The first public appearances took place in Grainau in 1963 as a duo and trio. Beni Ostler also played bar music during this time.

In 1969, Beni Ostler and his sister Mathilde founded the Werdenfelser Musikanten with the line-up of accordion, dulcimer, zither, guitar and bass. In addition, three voices were sung in the Werdenfels dialect.

In 1979 the Waxlstoana musicians were founded, the zither and dulcimer were replaced by trumpet and clarinet, and the baritone played the bass part in many titles. The polyphonic singing was initially retained, later Mathilde Ostler-Jochner also sang as a soloist.

Beni Ostler produced numerous popular titles which were released on records, cassettes and CDs.
