Bergen (Dechantskirchen municipality)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bergen is a village in the municipality of Dechantskirchen in the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district in Styria .

The elongated, scattered settlement, which extends north of Dechantskirchen along the slope, consists of numerous courtyards and the small group of three houses , where three courtyards are a little closer to each other.

In 1768 a certain Gertraud Zinklin , then 29 years old, is said to have set fire to several houses in Bergen. She was therefore beheaded on August 22, 1768 and her body cremated. In the house of the master shoemaker Florian Stögerer, a former hair parlor , which he acquired around 1890 and converted into a workshop, you can still admire the shoemaker's sewing machine.
