The Berlin Mathematical Society (BMG) is a non-profit and registered association for the promotion of mathematics in and around Berlin and was founded in Berlin in 1901. With easily understandable lectures, publications and events, BMG joins the mathematically interested public, the mathematicians at universities and from the business world and the mathematically interested teachers and students.
history
The Berlin Mathematical Society was founded in Berlin on October 31, 1901 and is based in part on the "Mathematical Association at the University of Berlin".
The 38 founding members of BMG included Adolf Kneser , Edmund Landau , Issai Schur and, as a founding student member, Constantin Caratheodory . The first chairman of the BMG from 1901 to 1902 was Julius Weingarten .

Board and organization
The board of directors of the BMG is elected for two years by the members of the BMG in accordance with the statutes. After the election on February 25, 2014, the BMG Board currently consists of Konrad Polthier (Chairman), Eberhard Knobloch (Deputy Chairman), Andreas Filler (Secretary) and Michael E. Klews (Treasurer) as well as a group of assessors, including one Representatives of the student group.
The BMG is entered in the register of associations of the Berlin-Charlottenburg District Court under registration number 2363NZ.
Anyone who would like to promote mathematics in Berlin or are interested in mathematical activities can become a member of the Berlin Mathematical Society.

Publications
When the BMG was founded in 1902, the series of publications entitled “ Meeting reports of the Berlin Mathematical Society” was started. Since 2007 the BMG has published the journal “Forum der Berliner Mathematischen Gesellschaft”.
