Bernard (in Asia also Backkom , derived from Hangeul : 빼꼼 , Ppaekkom ) is the main character in a computer-generated animated film series that has been in production since 2004.

Bernard is a curious, impatient and clumsy polar bear who makes a mistake and never gets away with bruises .

The short films are rendered with CGI animation software and are only highlighted with music, ambient noises and sounds (e.g. growls, sighs). While in some episodes various other creatures such as a cow or an alien make life difficult for Bernard , some supporting characters appear repeatedly, such as the lizard Zack , the Chihuahua Goliat or the penguins Lloyd and Eva .

In Germany, the short films are broadcast several times a week on television individually or in blocks of 2 to 3 episodes on the children's channel.

Awards

The series received several awards and nominations, including episode Contact2 at the Indi-Anifest 2006 in Seoul, the special prize of the jury. In 2004, the series won first place at MIPCOM JR. Licensing Challenge 2004 as Best TV Series.
