Bernard Burette

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bernard Burette (* around 1670 probably in Paris ; † after 1726 there) was a French harpsichordist , composer and teacher .

Very little is known about Burette's life, not even his life dates are certain. His presumed father, Claude Burette, worked at the court and was mainly engaged as a harpist . Bernard himself frequented aristocratic circles, played the harpsichord and also worked as a music teacher. Only a few of his compositions, some of which already have program musical traits, have survived for posterity: there are some cantatas for vocal soloists and musical instruments, including “The Ball” and “The Spring and Summer”.
