The Berswordt Hall in Dortmund was rebuilt in 2002 and connects the adjacent buildings with one another.
The name Berswordt comes from the family of the same name. She was one of the oldest families in the ruling class in medieval Dortmund . Many mayors and councilors come from this family. The Berswordt family was also active in the foundation sector. The Berswordt Altar in St. Mary's Church is an important medieval work of art.
The hall is built in an open glass and steel structure and connects the old town house with the new administration building from the 1950s in a rich contrast . The red sandstone facade of the old town house is reflected in the glass facade.
In the hall and the adjoining new town house, the citizens' services and the business service center of the Dortmund city administration are housed. In the outer arcades there are shops and a restaurant with "outdoor catering" in the hall.
The Berswordt Hall is used regularly for exhibitions and events.
