Bertolt Flick

Bertolt Martin Flick (* 1964 in Germany) is a German entrepreneur.

Flick holds a law degree from Heidelberg University . In 1995 he became a member of the supervisory board of the Latvian airline Air Baltic , and in 1999 he became chairman of the board. From 2002 to 2011 he was the company's President and CEO. On January 30, 2009, Flick's company Baltic Aviation Systems bought 47.2% of airBaltic's shares from Scandinavian Airlines . The successful restructuring and expansion of the airline was recognized by the award of the title Airline of the Year 2009/10 (by the European Regions Airline Association (ERA)), and the Phoenix Award 2010 (Air Transport World Magazin). In 2011 Air Baltic ran into financial difficulties. On September 21, 2011 Air Baltic had to apply for bankruptcy protection. On October 4, 2011, Flick had to resign after a protracted dispute with the company's second owner, the Latvian state .

On February 21, 2012, Flick became managing director of the charter airline XL Airways Germany until its bankruptcy in February 2013.
