Uta from Uttenweiler

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Uta von Uttenweiler († 722 in Uttenweiler ) was a beatified woman.

Little is known about the life of Blessed Uta. According to one legend, she is said to have been from a noble family, according to another legend she was a maid. The name of the community Uttenweiler , located below the bus , is said to be derived from the Blessed. Several sources speak of a special love for children. In 1449, Berthold von Stein , an admirer of the Blessed Uta, founded the Augustinian monastery in Uttenweiler , which no longer exists today . The Augustinians of the monastery had a distant relationship with the cult of the blessed. There is also no reference to Uta von Uttenweiler in the deed of foundation, as was previously believed.

A chapel consecrated in honor of Uta is proven in 1620. A hermit named Brother Klaus and later Johannes Speth, who died in 1737, lived in the vicinity of the chapel.

A grave of the blessed at the baptismal font of today's parish church St. Simon and Judas in Uttenweiler was the goal of an annual pilgrimage , during which the welfare of sick children was prayed for. This pilgrimage was banned during the Josephinist era .

In 1875 a new chapel was consecrated on the Dautenberg near Uttenweiler in honor of the blessed and rebuilt in 1950 because the old chapel had become dilapidated.
