Bertram von Gevertshagen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bertram von Gevertshagen , who also called himself Bertram von Lutzenrode , was a nephew of Wilhelm II von Nesselrode . He was married to Margareta Spoir (also Spohr), daughter of Reinhard von Krieckenbeck. However, she did not have this name, but took on the nickname of her father "Spoir".

Stolberg Castle at the time of Bertram von Gevertshagen

On May 11, 1483, Bertram von Gevertshagen received Stolberg Castle from Bertram von Nesselrode, which he had received on the same day from Wilhelm II of Nesselrode.

Bertram was stable master of the dukes of Jülich . In 1483 he received Stolberg Castle for his own use, which probably means that the Gevertshagen lived in the castle themselves. At the same time, his uncle was allowed to use the castle at any time for life. The deed for the transfer of ownership was sealed by the former owners Wilhelm II von Nesselrode and Bertram von Nesselrode but also by Duke Wilhelm von Jülich-Berg . The year-long renovation and expansion work was completed under Wilhelm II von Nesselrode, but it can be concluded that Bertram von Gevertshagen invested further money. On July 24th, 1496 he returned the castle to the liege lord Duke Wilhelm IV of Jülich-Berg and in return received the lordship of Hardenberg, which had been pledged to him for several years, as a hereditary fief .

Duke Wilhelm IV of Jülich-Berg then lent Stolberg Castle to Junker Vinzenz von Efferen .
