Trade association for trams, subways and railways

The Hamburg- based trade association for trams, underground trains and railways (short name: BG Bahnen ) was a commercial trade association and thus also the carrier of the statutory accident insurance .

The factual responsibility of BG Bahnen extended to companies in the rail transport industry . In 2006 it had a total of 141,632 insured persons in 1,898 companies.

It was created in 1949 through the merger of the private railway trade association and the tram and small railway trade association . From 1949 to 1954 it was called the trade association for trams, private and small railways. In 1954 it was renamed the professional association for trams, underground trains and railways.

On January 1, 2010, the BG Bahnen merged with the Verwaltungs-Berufsgenossenschaft (VBG).
