The Professional Association of Visual Artists Salzburg is the Salzburg state organization of the professional association of visual artists in Austria and thus a regional professional representation of around 200 visual artists. The organization of the professional association into a federal association and the subdivision into eight regional associations has existed since 1949.

Painting, sculpture, graphics, object art, photography, ceramics, design, new media and jewelry are represented in the Salzburg professional association as branches of the visual arts. Anyone who is interested in seriously engaging in artistic creation can become a member, but the board of directors will decide on admission after a representative selection of the applicant's works has been submitted.

Since the professional association is housed in the so-called Berchtoldvilla at Josef-Preis-Allee 12, 5020 Salzburg, the association appears under the name "art bv berchtoldvilla". The exhibitions organized by the professional association also take place here regularly.

In addition to the organization of exhibitions, information about vernissages and tenders and the establishment of foreign contacts, the Karl Weiser Prize - selected by the Karl Weiser Foundation Committee - is awarded to a member of the professional association every year. Since there are other artists' associations in Salzburg that are dependent on public subsidies, e.g. B. the Salzburger Kunstverein , mutual criticism is articulated in public.
