aims

The aim of the professional association for film sound is to strengthen the importance of film sound as an elementary level of film in the industry. The bvft is also committed to the appreciation of film sound among television broadcasters, the film industry and policy and the public. It sees itself as a platform for communication and expertise for technical, creative and legal topics and offers its members services.

The interests of film sound professionals are mainly represented through voluntary committee and association work. The association is advised by a lawyer for copyright and media law, who is also available to members for initial advice. The bvft is in contact with other associations at home and abroad. She is a member of APWPT and a cooperation partner of ver.di.

A central theme of the bvft is the recognition of the authorship of film sound professionals. This was partially achieved for the first time in 2014 with the supplementary collective wage agreement for cinema film revenue sharing.

With its seat in the collective bargaining committee of the ver.di union, through which it takes part in collective bargaining for the collective agreement for film and television workers employed on a permanent basis (TV FFS), the bvft is committed to fair remuneration for film sound professionals. In 2018, the sound design profession was for the first time anchored in the FFS collective agreement. It also publishes the annual updated bvft fee recommendation. This offers guidelines on minimum fees for freelancers and employees in film sound production and post-production.

Regular activities of the bvft are workshop discussions at film festivals , information events on current topics and the annual publication of the bvft film sound guide. This presents the members of the bvft and supports production, direction and post-production houses in their search for suitable film sound professionals. In addition, it offers information on film sound design.
