Berwald Trio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Berwald Trio , also called Berwaldtrion in Swedish , was a Swedish chamber music ensemble founded in Stockholm in 1935. The trio was formed by the Swedish pianist Astrid Berwald , the German-Swedish violinist Lotti Andréason (née Borisch) and the Swedish cellist Carin de Frumerie-Luthander . The trio focused specifically on the music of the Swedish composer Franz Berwald . The trio performed at concerts across Sweden. There were also often concerts on the radio. There have been several recordings of chamber music by Franz Berwald. Astrid Berwald ended her membership in the trio in 1967 at the age of 81.

The Berwald Trio must not be confused with the Nya Berwaldtrion , the New Berwald Trio , around the violinist Bernt Lysell , the violist Björn Sjögren and the cellist Ola Karlsson .
