Works union management
The GDR- unit union Free German Trade Union Federation, FDGB was divided into operational and institutional basic organizations, e.g. B. in industrial companies, hospitals, administrations u. At this level, the company union management (BGL), elected by the members, was the point of contact for the employees for union issues. The primary focus was on distributing the scarce unionized vacation spots, looking after retired former employees, providing support in finding places to look after small children and organizing company parties for various occasions. In this respect, the BGL enjoyed a higher reputation among many employees than z. B. the company party leadership.
