Works council academy

The Works Council Academy (BRAK) was founded in 1991 and is the name of a special training program for employee representatives of the Austrian Chamber of Labor in Vienna, Lower Austria , Styria and Upper Austria.

The course aims to impart and deepen all of the knowledge and skills required for works council work and employee representation . The applicants are nominated by the trade unions .

Content

Each regional chamber determines the course content independently and sets individual priorities. The lessons consist of a preparatory exam (1 ½ weeks), the core course (14 weeks) and a follow-up (2 ½ days) and consist of the following subject areas:

  • Labor and social law
  • Business and Economics
  • Communication and rhetoric training
  • Union and social studies
  • Consulting techniques and leadership skills
  • Development of conflict resolution models
  • Strategies for works council work
  • Enforcement and negotiation training
  • Works council management
