Begging wedding
The begging wedding is a carnival custom in Bavaria . In the past, servants and other simple people who could not afford to attend the carnival balls celebrated a begging wedding together.
Usually two men who look as curious as possible (one short as the bridegroom, one as male as possible, the taller as the bride) are "married" on the dung heap for the remainder of the carnival season. Every visitor can take on the role of mayor, relative or "ex", the crazier the better. A complete begging wedding includes a wedding procession with imaginatively designed carriages, the wedding ceremony with speeches that are as foolish as possible and the wedding party afterwards.
