The flexion test is an examination that detects lameness caused by diseases or degenerative changes in the horse 's leg system. To perform the flexion test, the horse's leg is strongly bent for about 60 seconds, after which the horse is allowed to trot immediately. Lameness that would otherwise not be immediately recognizable can be seen.
