Beyond the Forbidden Forest

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Beyond the Forbidden Forest is a computer game for the Commodore 64 that was produced by Cosmi in 1985 . It is the sequel to Forbidden Forest (1983).

Game description

The player controls an archer and has to destroy the boss named Demogorgon (a snake creature). In contrast to the previous version, the player can run into or out of the screen and shoot himself out of the screen in the direction of the real player. In addition, the time of day changes and the screen becomes increasingly dark.

The aiming direction of the arrow is a bit difficult to set: the height, which is also selected with the fire button like the shot itself, can be read from a gray bar on the left and right of the screen. The direction of the shot is then controlled by the character.

In the beginning it is important to destroy worms that emerge from the ground in random places and that are very similar to tree trunks. There are also bats, scorpions, bees, a monkey and a hydra .

The game has a high level of difficulty.

graphic

The game runs with the so-called OmniDimension -4D technology. The graphics are coarse- pixelated and very similar to the previous version, two years older.

Musician

The music for the C64 sound chip SID was written by Paul Norman , who also programmed the first part. The music was adapted to the atmosphere of the game and received top marks from reviews (Lemon64.com 10/10).
