Beer oak festival

In 1956 an editor of the Saarbrücker Zeitung , Theo Plettenberg, informed the readers that a case of beer would be deposited for all walkers under the so-called "Biiche" in the clearing in the Merzig Chamber of Forest on April 1st. The April Fool's joke became a festival that is celebrated every year in the clearing in the forest - the Beer Oak Festival. The beer oak festival used to be held by the Saarfürst brewery, but now it takes place under the direction of the Brotdorfer association “Die Strammen eV”.
