bike to work is an annual participatory campaign in Switzerland to promote cycling and health in companies. The campaign takes place in May and June and aims to encourage commuters to use bicycles more on their way to work . To motivate all participants who cover more than 50% of their commute by bike, prizes worth over CHF 100,000 will be raffled. bike to work is a campaign by Pro Velo Switzerland .
The idea and concept of bike to work are spread around the world in a similar form. In Germany, for example, under the name Taking the bike to work .
In other countries, World Bicycle Day takes place on June 3rd.
history
In 2005 the Federation of Migros Cooperatives started bike to work as a pilot project. 20 Migros companies with a total of 1,600 employees take part.
In 2006 Pro Velo Switzerland took over the organization of bike to work and enables all Swiss companies to participate.
