Image erotic library

The picture-erotic library is a project by Axel Springer AG with the Random House publishing group , in which nine classics of erotic world literature are presented. The books were published by Heyne Verlag .

Individual works were selected for publication, some of which were prohibited or indexed in the past. In several cases, the works of prominent authors of their time were published under pseudonyms.

The content of the works has been partially shortened. Corresponding references were not found on the individual volumes concerned, nor were they communicated by the publishers.

Three titles in the nine-volume series belong to sadomasochistic literature , in addition to the starting title Verbotenes Verlangen ( Exit to Eden ) by Anne Rampling (pseudonym of the successful American author Anne Rice ), the sadomasochistic classic Story of O and the novel Brennende Fesseln by Laura Reese. After this literary genre has been highly controversial to this day, it becomes the basis of a professional marketing campaign aimed at commercial success in the Bild series. The volume Geschichte der O is subject to legal distribution prohibitions and was later also indexed in the abridged edition of the Bild-Erotik-Bibliothek. Even before the indexing, which had already been pronounced for other editions in 1967 and 1982, came into force again, the publisher withdrew the book before the decision of the Federal Inspectorate.

The series includes the individual volumes:

The works were presented in detail in individual editions of BILD, the sadomasochistic context was not explicitly mentioned, but circumscribed.
