Image point

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Image sites are the institutions that build and manage collections of visual media for teaching and research. In 1885 the Royal Prussian Messbild-Anstalt was set up in Prussia under the direction of Albrecht Meydenbauer ; it is considered to be the first picture site in the German-speaking area. Institutions for photographic images are also called photo libraries .

In the art-historical discourse, image locations are collections of photographs for research purposes, for example in museums or universities. In addition, media collections were set up for educational purposes, which were also called picture locations. Since the mid-1990s these have been referred to as media centers .
