The education party (short name: education ) is a small German party founded in January 2006 in Berlin . The Berlin regional association, founded on March 19, 2006, was originally to be called “Berlin Parents' Party - the Education Party”. In order to avoid confusion with the parents' party , the state list entered the 2006 elections for the House of Representatives under the name "Education Party ".

In the election on September 17, 2006, the party received 0.3% of the vote.

history

It was founded by members of the Berlin State Committee parents and parent representatives from the Berlin school committees. The background was the "educational policy goals of Berlin parents", which were compiled by the parents under the coordination of the State Parents' Committee. This protested against the Senate's educational policy and called for educational policy goals such as competition between educational institutions, equal opportunities for students, performance-related pay for teachers and more investments in schools and day-care centers .

However, the personal union of the federal chairman of the party and simultaneous chairman of the state parents' committee André Schindler was criticized in advance from other sides .

After the disappointing result for the party, there were disputes in the party leadership. According to information from the Berlin state executive board, the federal chairman of the education party was expelled from the party “because of behavior that was harmful to the party”. The federal chairman confirmed that he had received a corresponding letter, but rejected the allegations as untenable and damaging to reputation. In addition, the state executive could not vote him out as federal chairman of the party. The federal executive declared the election of the state executive for its part invalid.

The party's website has been closed since June 2007.
