Bill Bowen

Bill Bowen is an American rockabilly musician.

Life

Around 1954 Bowen played with Ray Harris in a country band and appeared with him on local radio. In 1955 and 1956 he played a few demos with Sun Records and in 1956 he recorded the two tracks Don't Shoot Me Baby and Have Myself A Ball with Meteor Records , after Sun the record label for Rockabilly in Memphis . His background band were The Rockets , it consisted of the electric guitarist Teddy Thompson and a bassist. The band name was based on the group of guitarist Thompson, which was also called Rockets. The other members of the "original" Rockets, however, could not remember having played with Bowen at some point. The single was released on July 30, 1956, but had poor sales. Bowen left the music business in 1957.

Bill Bowen was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame as the 323rd member .
