Bill Campbell (pianist)

William "Bill" Campbell (* around 1925, † after 1978) was an American jazz pianist .

Live and act

Between 1945 and 1947 Campbell recorded a number of titles for the Apollo, Harlem and DeLuxe labels in New York City with his own formations such as Bill Campbell's Blue Note or Bill Campbell & His Harlem Eight , including the song numbers “I'm Just a Fruity Woman "And" It was So Good "with Thelma Carpenter . In 1948 he played “Let's Have a Ball This Morning” in Clyde Bernhardt 's band and accompanied Bernhardt with his band at the Jailhouse Blues . In 1953 he accompanied doo-wop singers Emmett Hobson and Georgia Lane .

In the late 1950s Campbell played in Los Angeles with Jerry Colonna & His Dixieland Band, The Jazzbos , in 1963 with Red Nichols ( Blues & Old Time Rags ). In the late 1970s he was on recordings of Pud Brown ( Tenor for Two ) and Buddy Burns' New Orleans Creole Gumbo Zave . In the field of jazz he was involved in 13 recording sessions between 1945 and 1978.
