The Billing and Settlement Plan (BSP) is the most widely used system worldwide for the simple processing of airline ticket sales . The approved IATA sales agents (accredited agents) print the tickets on blank documents, which they receive from the BSP. The sales data are forwarded by the respective computer reservation system (CRS) directly to the BSP, which in turn reports all sales to the airlines.

The advantages of this system lie in the simplification of the processes: There are no separate transactions between travel agency and airline, but a total payment.

The BSP is active in approx. 150 countries and regions and accounts for 80% of airline sales worldwide.
