Binasu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Binasu was an ancient oriental city or city-state that was founded in the middle of the 3rd millennium BC. BC flourished and so far is only known from cuneiform texts from Ebla . In the palace of Ebla is a large archive whose lyrics call many neighbors was. Most of them were previously unknown. Binasu was probably in the north of Syria , but has not yet been localized more precisely. In Binasu kings ruled, but also governors with the title lugal (in Ebla this title did not mean king, but governor) are attested, of which Amuti is documented by name. It is not clear whether the city was independent of Ebla. In the city, part of the ritual Ritual for the Death of a Queen was celebrated. This indicates that the city was dependent, otherwise it is difficult to understand that a ritual from Ebla was celebrated in a foreign city. Binasu produced textiles and delivered grain to the palace in Ebla. Ebla sent wheat and oil to Binasu.
