They are produced using the offset printing process and are illustrated in color with photos and graphics to meet the needs of a readership that is not limited to a specialist audience.

Topics and structure

The editions each have different multi-page articles on certain species, habitats and functions or sub-areas and applications of biology. The main contributions are each provided with a summary at the end, a bibliography, a glossary and a portrait of each author. The rubrics are the editorial, brief reports from research, a riddle and literature reviews. Association-internal communications make up part of every issue.

Authors

The contributions are submitted by independent authors or groups of authors in accordance with the publisher's specifications regarding length and structure, with the copyright being assigned to the publisher. Any patent rights remain with the author. The journal has a permanent board of trustees made up of several scientists from the subject area covered.
