Biot (optics)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The biot , named after the French physicist Jean-Baptiste Biot , was a unit that was mainly used in spectroscopy to measure the optical rotational energy of circular dichroic materials.

1 biot = 10-40  CGS units

The optical biot should not be confused with the CGS unit of the same name for electrical current.
