Bir baba hindi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bir baba hindi is one of the oldest fan chants in Turkish football. The singing originated in the Istanbul Boys High School in the 1930s.

history

The song was created by Süha (or: Seha) Erge (1924–1974). At that time he was the first drummer at the Istanbul Boys High School. He reported that the Kehrvers came about by chance when the students were entertained by the Ankara Girls' High School on the occasion of a competition for the Zafer Bayramı holiday and a large roasted turkey (Turkish: Hindi ) was on the table . He exclaimed: “Oo bir baba hindi!” (For example: O, a father turkey!). The classmates would have answered this exclamation with “Heey Allah!”. This is the hour of birth of this catch song. It was also Erge who later carried the singing into the stadiums. The “Baba hindi” was forgotten, but experienced a renaissance at the beginning of the 21st century.

intonation

The catch song is intoned in the form of an alternating song. A whip starts with the first line “Bir baba hindi” and the crowd replies with “Hey de yallah”. There are numerous variations of singing. A variant that corresponds to the original form is:

Bir baba hind / Hey de yallah!
Olsa da Şimdi / Hey de yallah!
Pilav da zerde / Hey de yallah!
Kaşık da nerrde / Hey de yallah!
Gideriz billa / Hey de yallah!
Şampiyonluğa billah / Hey de yallah!
Filana da bindi / Hey de yallah! Hey allah!

Whipers are called amigo in Turkey . Karıncaezmez Şevki was one such well-known amigo.
