August Ludwig Koch (born September 4, 1791 in Sülze , † September 12, 1866 in Schwerin ) was a German lawyer, mayor and saline official .

August Ludwig Koch was born in Sülze on September 4, 1791 as the son of Johannes Friedrich Theodor Koch († 1827), director and chief magistrate of the Saline Sülze. He studied law at Rostock (1809) and Heidelberg (1811). After passing his exams, he became first mayor and magistrate of the city of Sülz on July 21, 1813 at the age of 22. After the death of his father in 1827, Koch resigned from his position as mayor and took over the management of the Saline Sülze. His great-grandfather Johann Georg Koch (1685–1749) was director of a salt works in Nauheim, Hesse. August Ludwig Koch had been a member of the Rostock Natural Research Society since 1822, the Association for Mecklenburg History from 1835, the Entomological Association in Stettin since 1846 and the Association for Friends of Natural Sciences in Mecklenburg since 1847. Koch was both a councilor (May 16, 1829) and a secret councilor (November 2, 1839) in Sülz. His book History of the Saline zu Sülz contributes significantly to the knowledge of the history of the Saline Sülze and the salt roads Sülze – Damgarten – Dändorf – Wismar and Sülze – Trebel – Peene – Kummerower See – Malchin .
