The Birnauer Kantorei e. V. was founded in 1966 by the concert singer Cilla Mayer and the conductor and church musician Klaus Reiners as a concert choir. The purpose of the association is to promote concert church music in the Lake Constance area .

Kantorei

Today the choir consists of a choir with about 75 singers from the rest of the Lake Constance area. There was also a core orchestra with around 40 instrumentalists, almost exclusively made up of professional musicians. Roland Baldini was the concertmaster. The rehearsal of the works and the artistic direction of the concerts were in the hands of Klaus Reiners from Wangen im Allgäu until September 2014 . In autumn 2014 he was replaced by Thomas Gropper .

Performances and concert tours

Since 1966, six to seven concerts of the “Geistliche Musik Birnau” concert series have been held annually in the Lake Constance area from spring to autumn, including in the Birnau basilica , in Salem Minster , in Marienmünster Mittelzell on the island of Reichenau and at regular intervals in the Tuttlingen town church .

Concert tours at home and abroad as well as numerous recordings on records, music cassettes, CDs as well as radio and television recordings made the Birnauer Kantorei known beyond the Lake Constance area.
