Birthright Armenia

Birthright Armenia , also known under the Armenian name Depi Hayk ( Armenian Դեպի Հայք ), is a volunteer program for development cooperation in Armenia . The participants can be financially supported by means of a foreign scholarship.

history

The organization, based in Yerevan , was founded in 2003 as an international non-profit organization. The aim of this organization is a deeper bond between the Diaspora Armenians and Armenia by giving them the opportunity to participate in everyday life in Armenia.

People of Armenian descent between the ages of 20–32 years can apply.

In 2011 more than 500 volunteers from 25 countries participated in the Birthright Armenia program.

The organization IrishWay organized trips for Irish - American high school students to Ireland. Another similar project is Birthright Greece , which targets the Greek diaspora.
