The Bismarck Tower Pritzwalk is a arisings in 1905 Bismarckdenkmal in the Brandenburg town of Pritzwalk , in the Prignitz . The costs for the 18.5 meter high tower amounted to 12,000 marks.

history

The inauguration of the tower took place on April 2, 1905, after the foundation stone had been laid about a year earlier, on April 10, 1904. Up until 1907, on certain occasions (for example Bismarck's birthday) a fire burned in a large brazier on the tower, but this lighting was stopped for cost reasons.

In 1993/1994 the tower was renovated and converted into a lookout tower by removing the fire bowl on the roof. It was reopened on September 23, 1994.

An anniversary event was held on May 27, 2005 on the occasion of the tower's hundredth birthday.

architecture

The tower consists of three floors. There are exhibition rooms on the first and second floors, the third serves as a viewing platform. The base of the tower is 4.2 m × 4.2 m. 22 glass mosaic panels are embedded in the tower, on which the coats of arms of noble families and towns of Prignitz are located.

At the front of the tower is a stone tablet with the inscription “We Germans Fear God Otherwise Nothing In The World”.
