Bit rate adaptation

A bit rate adaptation is required if the transmitter and receiver with different bit rates (rates at the data transmission) operate. In ISDN, for example, this is the case between Europe (64 kbit / s) and the USA (56 kbit / s). Devices for bit rate adaptation are then used for adaptation . A common procedure is described in ITU-T recommendation V.110.
