Raoul Gehringer

Raoul Gehringer (born August 18, 1971 in Vienna ; † March 20, 2018 ) was an Austrian composer and choir director .

Raoul Gehringer received his musical training from the Vienna Boys' Choir . He then studied music , education , mathematics and history at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the University of Vienna .

activity

Since October 1997 Gehringer has been responsible for the aural training of the Vienna Boys' Choir. From 1997 to 2000 he directed the Chorus Viennensis , a choir for former choir boys. Several CD recordings followed. In 2000 Raoul Gehringer became Kapellmeister of the “Mozart Choir” of the Vienna Boys' Choir . In 2004, the music composed by him was children's opera Moby Dick in the Vienna Musikverein listed . Moby Dick is again on the repertoire of the newly opened concert hall of the Vienna Boys' Choir "MuTh". In 2010, Raoul Gehringer took over the leadership of the Chorus Juventus .

Scientific work

In 2014 Raoul Gehringer received his doctorate in musicology with the thesis The late Masses by Joseph Haydn .

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Raoul Gehringer had been suffering from ALS ( amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ) since 2011 .
